ACADEMICS

As one of the largest sites with EL population in SPPS, we provide English language support services to meet the needs of all EL learners.  

Over 20 languages are spoken by students at Washington Technology Magnet School. Given this rich diversity, we provide classes for students to improve their English language skills needed for future jobs, community interactions, and further academic education. ELL classes provide students with the skills and strategies to be successful in mainstream classes and state-wide tests given throughout the year. 

We support EL learners across EL levels. Our Language Academy (LA) classes serve students who are just beginning their English language development. In these LA classes students have opportunity to develop their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. We offer LA courses in level 1, 1.5 and 2 for eligible students in both middle and high schools.  

In addition, our EL teachers also co-teach across many subject areas such as art, ELA, math, science, and social studies to support EL students in level 3 and 4 in mainstream classes. 

Washington has a multidimensional special education department. It includes services for students with differing disabilities.
